| Christmas midnight mass at [St. Patrick's Cathedral]
in Melbourne. The mass was presided by Rev. George Pell, the
archbishop of Melbourne. Due to different time zones and the
international date line, there is a 19 hour difference so midnight
mass was celebrated here at what would be December 24, 5:00a.m.
Pacific Time. The cornerstone of St. Patrick's was laid in 1850.
It is a cathedral in size and style similar to the great cathedrals
in Europe. The mass was concelebrated by two bishops and about
ten priests. Pipe organ, orchestra, and two choirs provided the
music. It was quite an event. |
